In this lesson we will get into some of the dynamics that made the primitive church so powerful. What the Lord has done in the past are prophesies of what He wants to do again. That thought comes from Charles Spurgeon and it is true. The Lord wants the life of the early church to be in the church of today, regardless of the culture.
We are only going to dig into two verses in this lesson. They contain some of the fruit that came out of the Day of Pentecost as seen in Acts chapter two. There are two points that stand out. The first is the power of the Holy Spirit that brought 3000 souls to Christ and the second is the devotion those early saints had for Jesus. This is a very important lesson to understand and apply to our lives.
In this lesson we will look at the end of the sermon Peter gave on the Day of Pentecost and see the response of the people to this message. We will also examine a topic he preached after the people inquired into how to be saved. This is a great section of Scripture to dig into, so don’t miss it.

Then he told the large crowd what Jesus did for them and then exposed their guilt so that they might come to repentance. This is a great sermon to study.

We will go with Jesus to the Garden of Gethsemane, hear Him pray and examine some of the profound lessons that are in this account. Then we will see the Savior arrested and Peter’s denial. Here we will find some more profound lessons that will teach us how to live the victorious Christian life in the face of suffering and trials.
In this lesson we will study the final words Jesus spoke to the disciples at the Last Supper. Then we will examine Jesus going to the Garden of Gethsemane and His command, which was also an invitation, for the disciples to pray with Him. Instead, they all fell asleep. There are some powerful lessons we all need to learn from this account.
The Lord’s Supper or Communion is part of what we will study in this lesson. After Jesus broke the bread and passed to the disciples He shared with them the suffering that would shortly come upon Him. Yet right after this the disciples began a debate over who would be greatest in Christ’s Kingdom. This is a very interesting lesson, so don’t miss it.
In the verses we are studying there are two primary subjects. The first is that Satan possesses Judas to the betraying of Jesus and the second is that Jesus and the disciples celebrate the Passover. We are heading towards the cross and we will see Jesus more beautiful and loving then we can naturally see.

There are two parts of this portion of Luke’s Gospel that we will study in this lesson. The first is The Parable of the Tenants. Through this parable Jesus exposed the wicked schemes of the religious elite and how they would kill Him. The second is the continuation of Jesus confronting these hypocrites after they tried to trap Jesus. How Jesus responded to their attacks was simple, yet profound. This is a very interesting lesson.
