We will finish studying Acts chapter 9, which ends with the second account of Peter being used to perform a miracle while on a preaching tour. This time it is a woman being raised from the dead. We will then look at the powerful impact miracles have in bringing people to salvation. Then we will begin looking at chapter 10, which is extremely important in the life of the church since it records how the Lord opened the door for the salvation of Gentiles or non-Jews. This is a great message, so don’t miss it.

Book of Acts Part 25 – 9:17-35

We are in the portion of Acts chapter 9 that goes into Paul’s actual conversion and what that looked like. Salvation not only comes through Christ alone, but there is only one kind of salvation and we see this lived out in Paul. He was a New Testament believer. It is of the utmost importance that we return to the Biblical model of salvation and forsake America Christianity that by and large is a perversion of the real thing. Book of Acts Part 22 – 8:18-27

Simon the sorcerer is the topic of this lesson. He was a man that had great demonic power, but when he saw the signs and wonders the Lord was doing through Philip, he got saved and baptized in water. When Peter and John went to Samaria to help Philip with the revival, Peter rebuked Simon for wanting to buy the gift of God. This is a very interesting message.

The first is the power of the Holy Spirit that brought 3000 souls to Christ and the second is the devotion those early saints had for Jesus. Peter’s first sermon after Jesus rose again is the subject of this lesson. This happened on the Day of Pentecost and the first thing he did was to explain what happened with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Then he told the large crowd what Jesus did for them and then exposed their guilt so that they might come to repentance. This is a great sermon to study.

This lesson picks up with Christ’s ascension into heaven when over 500 people witnessed this astounding sight. Two angels suddenly appeared to give the disciples an important message–Jesus is coming back. As real as was His ascension, so will be His second coming. Then the disciples obeyed our Lord’s final command before He ascended and went into Jerusalem to tarry until they received the promised Baptism in the Holy Spirit. This is a soul-stirring lesson.

Gospel of Luke Part 45 – 9:4-17

The topics of this lesson has to do with what Jesus taught the 12 apostles before He sent them out to minister and what happens after they return. Jesus wanted time to be alone with His disciples to prepare them for the time when He would be taken from them. He also had another agenda, which was to draw 20,000 people into the wilderness near Bethsaida so He could miraculously feed them. Here was another event where Jesus proved His divinity.

In verses 51 and 52 of the second chapter of Luke we will study such subjects as why Jesus was called a Nazarene and what it means that Mary “treasured all these things in her heart.” Then in the first two verses of chapter three we will examine the introduction to John the Baptist’s ministry.
