We will finish studying the Parable of the Prodigal Son and chapter 15 in this lesson. This will include the father’s response to his prodigal son’s repentance, which had some profound meanings. Then we dig into the elder brother’s reaction to learning that his wayward brother had returned home after living a wild life. The elder brother wasn’t happy that the father put on a celebration for this young rebel. There are some powerful truths to glean from this message.

Gospel of Luke Part 75 – 14:35-15:13

We turn our attention to Luke 15 in this lesson. In this chapter are three parables and we will look at the first two–The Lost Sheep and The Lost Coin.

As we end our study in Luke chapter 12 we will begin digging into chapter 13. In the 11 verses we will examine, there are 3 important topics that are addressed. The first is about understanding the times, the second is our need to agree with our adversary and finally, unless we repent, we won’t enter the Kingdom of God. This is a challenging message.

Gospel of Luke Part 68 – 12:43-53

As we are nearing the end of our study in Luke chapter 12, Jesus warns us that there is a day of judgment. He did this out of love; for true love warns of the dangers we face. The Lord goes on to talk about His coming suffering and of the radical nature of the true faith. Jesus said in verse 49, “I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!” This is the heart of God for His people, so it would be good for us to learn what this means. The answer is far more obvious then we might think because we are prone to look for complicated answers to what is actually spiritual problems. This lesson begins with Jesus teaching the disciples to not fear those who can kill the body, but to fear God who after killing the body can cast the person into hell. Central to this thought is our need to love Jesus more than ourselves. This is necessary if we are going to live out the Biblical faith. Gospel of Luke Part 55 – 10:25-31

We will begin studying a new account in Luke which is about an expert in the Mosaic Law that tried to entrap Jesus. The Lord turned the table on the lawyer and forced him to answer a question Jesus presented to him. This is a challenging exchange that teaches some important truths on what it means to follow Jesus. This interaction leads into the Parable of the Good Samaritan that we will begin examining at the end of this lesson.
